AXSUN TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES ISO 9000:2001 CERTIFICATION

Billerica, MA, September 16, 2003 – AXSUN Technologies Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components and subsystems, today announced that the company’s quality management system has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification.

“AXSUN is committed to delivering high quality products and to constantly improving our development processes,” explained Jack Kay, AXSUN’s president and CEO. “Combined with the recent Telcordia qualification of our monitor product family, our ISO certification recognizes AXSUN Technologies’ ongoing commitment to quality, reliability, and continual improvement of the product realization process.

AXSUN Technologies uses several technologies to develop miniature opto-electronic products. The scope of the ISO certificate includes the design and manufacture of optical components, assemblies and foundry components that combine micro-electronics technology, micro-alignment structures, and electronics with an automated assembly process.

ISO 9001:2000:
ISO 9000 is a generic system standard that specifies, in very broad terms, the necessary components of a quality management system. ISO 9000's primary purpose is to provide organizations with useful internationally recognized models for operating a quality management system. ISO 9000 was originally published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of national standards bodies, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO 9001:2000 is the most recent revision of the ISO 9000 standard, which replaces the previous ISO 9000:1994 standard effective December 15, 2003.
