Axsun Technologies Announces New High Speed Products for Industry-Leading Optical Monitor Family

BILLERICA, Massachusetts and ANAHEIM, California (March 7, 2005) – Axsun Technologies Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced photonic components and subsystems, today announced two new high-speed products in the industry-leading OMx™ optical monitor product family. First field deployed in 2001, today OMx monitors are used in over half of all new telecommunications systems employing optical monitoring. The OM4 and OM5 products offer the industry-leading performance equivalent to Axsun’s established OMx products, but operate up to 10 times faster, completing measurements in 100 milliseconds.

The OM4 is a mechanically and electrically compatible replacement for several legacy standard dual port RAM optical monitors in use today, giving customers the performance benefits of the OMx family, without the additional investment of developing a unique PC board. Both the OM4 and small form-factor OM5 products offer the industry’s highest performance with laboratory instrument class Spectral Resolution, and leading OSNR Accuracy at 50GHz and 100GHz spacing.

“Axsun’s OMx monitor family has quickly developed a reputation as the industry’s most reliable optical monitor products,” said Petros Kotidis”, Axsun VP of Marketing. “With the addition of these new high speed products, DWDM system providers who need higher measurement speed now can have it with the high resolution and superb OSNR performance of the OMx.”

"The channel monitor market is extremely competitive,” said Jack Kay, president and CEO of Axsun Technologies. "The success of the OMx line is based on a superior product and our ongoing emphasis on improving performance and quality. These new high-speed products show Axsun’s commitment to providing telecom customers with the most comprehensive range of high performance optical monitors.”

Samples of the OM4/5 Products will be available in April 2005.
