Axsun, Inc., Citing Increased Demand for MEMS-based Spectrometer, Expands into Europe
Billerica, MA – (August 14, 2006) - Axsun Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of MEMS-based micro-optoelectronic spectrometers and optical channel monitors, announced today an expansion into Europe with the establishment of a direct office in the UK.
“We’ve had a strong base of European customers in the telecom market for years”, said Greg Smolka, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Axsun, Inc., “and with the release of our Near-Infrared (NIR) and Raman micro-spectrometers we’re seeing overwhelming interest from process spectroscopy customers in pharmaceutical and petrochemical applications for laboratory-grade performance in a compact, rugged micro-package. With the establishment of this direct office, we are looking forward to providing local support to our customers across the continent.”
Dr. Andrew Grady, formerly of Advion Biosciences, Ltd., and Mettler-Toledo Autochem, will head up Axsun’s European office, and will focus on spectroscopy applications, particularly in pharmaceutical, petrochemical and material identification applications. “Clearly spectroscopic applications are moving more and more to small, portable, field-deployable solutions”, said Dr. Grady, “Axsun’s technology certainly meets this need, and their product maturity is far beyond others in this area. I’m excited to join this team and begin supporting our European customers.”
